OBJECTIVE

The objective of this study is to showcase the technological capabilities of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Tamil Nadu and Kerala by documenting their exportable technologies and projects.

Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) from Tamil Nadu and Kerala have developed process or product technologies through rigorous R & D efforts. Some of the SMEs are working on the technologies imported and then redesigned to suit to the Indian standards. These technologies have been well established and fully commercialized and can be offered to entrepreneurs in some of the other developing countries.

Following were the aims of the study:

  • To collect information about the technology used in manufacturing units from small and medium enterprises in the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala in select export oriented industry sectors.
  • To prepare profiles of exportable technologies/ projects based on the survey, highlighting company profile as well as techno-commercial details of technology/project.
  • To prepare the profiles in the form of a report as well as a searchable database.
