Course on Infotech Applications to Library and Information Science

The National Centre for Science Information at Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore has introduced a regular one year training course for library professionals starting in October each year. Those possessing a masters degree in library science or a postgraduate in science with a degree in library science are eligible to seek admission. Participants selected will get training in IT applications, MIS and Database systems, Information processing and retrieval, Library automation, Internet, Programming in `C' and IT management in libraries.

Uttar Pradesh Library Association invites papers for the Seminar being organised at ROORKEE during 24-26 May 1997 on: "Library Automation: Problems & Prospects"

  • Software for Automation—language, limitations, exchangeability, etc;

Managerial—Policy Planning, Change in mindset, Multilingual nature of data;

Operational—Data conversion, manpower development, power supply, CCF, data security exchangebility

Registration Fee: Rs. 500/- A rebate of 50% will be given to life members of UPLA, students of library / information science, and elder professionals above 60 years of age.

Accommodation

The organising committee will try to accommodate delegates in dormitory type accommodation with vegetarian food. Persons desirous of staying in hotel may get their reservation on advance payments.

Excursion Tour

Roorkee is well connected with Railways and bus routes and is a gateway to Haridwar, Rishikesh, Dehradun, Mussoorie, Badrinath and Kedarnath, etc. An excursion tour may be arranged depending upon the response from the delegates.
